To celebrate the opening of NAIDOC Week, Darling Harbour are hosting a welcome to the country and smoking ceremony.

It will take place in front of our art exhibition 'Here I Am: Art by Great Women,' which showcases eight contemporary Indigenous female artists from across Australia.

NAIDOC week is an annual event that invites all Australians to celebrate the incredible history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, who have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years.

The Welcome to the Country will be given by a traditional owner of the land to acknowledge and show respect to First Nations custodians past and present. Next the Smoking Ceremony will ward off bad spirits and clear a path for a brighter future. Koomurri will then perform a traditional dance before our MC opens the art exhibition.
