'A funny, raw look at being a woman in Singapore' - The Weekender
Slanted Theatre in association with bAKEHOUSE Theatre will present Three Fat Virgins Unassembled by Ovidia Yu as part of the KXT StoryLines season from 24 November to 4 December 2021.
Set in Singapore in the 90s, Three Fat Virgins Unassembled is a blistering satire about women in impossible situations, judged by equally impossible standards. We explore the vignettes' of these women's lives as they are marginalised and oppressed in their society - from office sexual harassment to controlling husbands.
Three Fat Virgins Unassembled, written by Singaporean playwright Ovidia Yu, will be presented as the first show in KXT's main season, following postponement from September 2021, due to pandemic restrictions.
Following the success of Slanted Theatre's first show, the sold-out performance of Lauren Yee's Ching Chong Chinaman in January 2021, emerging director, Tiffany Wong leads an all female-identifying Asian creative team to present an Australian premiere of Ovidia Yu's scathing satire, revealing stories of women who are still trapped by the toxic world of sexism to contemporary audiences.
Starring Denise Chan, Sabrina Chan D'Angelo, Happy Feraren, Caroline George and, the show will provide an essential take on the trials and tribulations of women through the generations from young schoolgirls to motherhood.
The show will start its season on 24 November with tickets now on sale for performances up until closing night on December 4. Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination (with the second vaccination at least 2 weeks earlier from the date) will be required to attend KXT and KXT Hotel.
