On weekends or holidays, the Zhongli train station in Taiwan is always filled with migrant workers moving to seek out better economic or living conditions.
Screening daily in the Adelaide train station entrance to Dunstan Playhouse, Taiwanese artist Yuan Goang-Ming's The Strangers is a portrait of these displaced people. Shot using high-speed cameras from the window of a moving passenger car, Yuan captures fleeting yet captivating portraits of these travelers frozen in time.
On ode to his father and the millions of other Chinese civilians who migrated to Taiwan during the civil war of 1949, Yuan combines symbolic metaphor with technological media to share the transient stories of strangers away from home.
