Dragon boating as a sport is over 2000 years old, originating in China. It is now popular worldwide, with competitive internal teams in mens, womens and mixed boats across all ages. It's one of the few sports with ongoing cultures of mixed competition.
A dragon boat is similar to a 20 person canoe, with a drummer at the front and a sweep steering at the back, where you all paddle together, and is a great way to experience the difference between when a team is working together and working independently. When you're all in sync, the boat absolutely flies!
The Sloths Dragon Boating Club is one of Sydney's most competitive clubs, winning several medals at the 2021 State Championships.
We're now recruiting, and are looking for people who want to get fit, have fun, and make new friends. We have competitive members from their teens and into their 60s, so age is no barrier if you're ready to give it a shot!
Ensure you bring:
Hat, Sunglasses, Sunscreen, Water Bottle, Closed Shoes that can (will) get wet, towel, dry clothes to change,
Note: All paddlers must be able to swim, or wear a lifejacket and sign a disclaimer.
