Sound Stories is a 2 part concert series presented by Sydney-based new music collective Konzertprojekt in collaboration with St Stephen's Uniting Church and the City of Sydney. Showcasing a diverse range of Australian music, Sound Stories presents the stories of rising Sydney musicians, expressed through new and experimental sounds.
The series, curated by Gabrielle Cadenhead and Madison Briggs, will present commissioned and pre-existing works, from solo performances to chamber ensembles and audio-visual works. The audience is also able to submit their own stories to be improvised upon live!
The program for Part 1 features Michael Burden as a vocal soloist, chamber group Ensemble Terra, as well a world premieres of commissioned works by composers Ariel Bonnell, Rosa Clifford and Rhys Little.
The program for Part 2 includes two commissioned audio-visual collaborations, between composer Christine Pan and visual artist Bea Brabante, and between composer Maddy Briggs and visual artist Keesha Field. It also features Ensemble MUSE, who will be premiering commissioned works by composers Gabrielle Cadenhead and Sophie Van Dijk.
Located just seconds from Martin Place, St Stephen's Uniting Church is a stunning venue who have consistently partnered with musicians to provide opportunities for musical performances in their space, and Sound Stories builds on that history.
These concerts are free and appropriate for all ages.
