In an era of connected technologies, many cities are turning to technology and smart city solutions to build more liveable environments. What would it take to build cities of the future in which everyone can live and thrive?

We can define the ideal smart city as a place that incorporates technology to make city life more accessible and efficient, without feeling like technology is present. The question then is, accessible for who?

In this monthly Remarkable Insights, Founder of Remarkable, Pete Horsley, will moderate a conversation with advocates and innovators of inclusive smart city initiatives and technologies that adopt a people-first approach to benefit people with disabilities and the elderly.

Panel

  • Adriana Mallozi, Founder & CEO, Puffin Innovations (Boston, USA). Entrepreneur, innovator, and most importantly disability advocate. Adriana combines her entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for technology and empowering people with disabilities.

  • Victor Santiago Pineda, President, World Enabled (Berkeley, USA). A human rights expert, a leading scholar on inclusive and accessible smart cities, and a serial social impact entrepreneur. A two-time presidential appointee on the US Access Board, a senior Fellow at the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government in Dubai, and the founder of Pineda Foundation / World ENABLED, a global non-profit promoting the rights of people with disabilities.

  • Anna Wright, CEO and Co-Founder, BindiMaps (Sydney, Australia). Launched in January 2017, BindiMaps is an award-winning smart cities technology startup, bringing accessibility to people and places currently out of bounds for people who are vision-impaired.

Moderator

  • Pete Horsley, Founder, Remarkable Technology Accelerator (Sydney, Australia). Remarkable is Australia's first disability technology accelerator for startups developing technology that enable people with disability to overcome barriers they face each and every day.
