ACON and City of Sydney are running Silver Sessions again in May. Silver Sessions are a series of free workshops open to all LGBTIQ women who are 55 years or older. Each workshop has a different focus and activity, making Silver Sessions a fun, social and engaging way to meet people and access information on healthy ageing.
We have 3 sessions this time, plus a joint event with the LOVE project on 5 June - more details to come. For now, these are our 2021 Silver Sessions:
1: Weaving and Mental Health
Tuesday 4 May, 2pm - 4:30pm
Ngumpie Weavers will teach us some weaving techniques, and we will keep weaving while having a group discussion about mental health - what does good mental health look and feel like?
2: Yoga and Meditation
Tuesday 11 May, 2pm - 4:30pm
Accessible yoga teacher Bridget will lead us in some restorative chair yoga (wear comfy clothes!), and then after a tea break Daisy will lead us in meditation for the second part of this workshop.
3: Healthy Relationships
Tuesday 18 May, 2pm - 4:30pm
This sessions centres relationships (all kinds - with family, friends, lovers, our community and colleagues) as one of the most important parts of our lives. We know that through healthy relationships we thrive as individuals. This workshop offers a safe space to reflect on and discuss the relationships in our lives that matter the most to us, understanding how they change over time and how we can build healthier, stronger relationships.
The workshops will be held in Erskineville Town Hall, and we'll have a light afternoon tea for each session. If you'd like to come along, please fill out the registration form.
