Selby & Friends: Exotic Strudel 2021

Selby & Friends celebrates the opening of its 2021 concert season with 'Exotic Strudel', touring from March 7-15 to Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, and in NSW, Turramurra and the Southern Highlands.

This is a delightful program of music by Schubert, Shostakovich, Joaquín Turina and Ernest Bloch -- a fascinating glimpse of how three composers of the past century imagined the piano trio, alongside the highly developed structure produced by Schubert 100 years earlier. It's a taste of soulful Bloch, Andalusian-flavoured Turina and brooding Shostakovich, together with the genius of Schubert. Artistic Director and pianist Kathryn Selby welcomes her guest artists, violinist Natsuko Yoshimoto and cellist Julian Smiles for this program filled with pathos, song and passion!
