Renée Geyer is an icon of Australian music, an ARIA Hall of Famer whose career has spanned over four decades, and has included classic performances across a variety of genres: soul, rock, blues, jazz, pop, reggae and more. From her teen years as a precocious blues singer, her hits through the Countdown years, her time in LA where she was a backing singer of choice for greats like Stevie Wonder, Joe Cocker and Chaka Khan, through to the hard-won authority of her later recordings, Renée owns any song that she performs.
That gritty, powerful voice is instantly recognisable, as is the emotive power of her phrasing. Nobody but Renée sings like that.
