In 1972, Mirko Stocchetto at Bar Basso in Milan added sparkling wine instead of gin - by mistake - when making a Negroni.
Out of curiosity, he tried this new variation and realised that this humble mistake was indeed a happy accident.
Now famous the world over, this classic cocktail is called the Negroni Sbagliato, with sbaglio the Italian word for mistake. It's a lighter version of the Negroni, perfect for balmy afternoons on Woolloomooloo wharf.
Enjoy the Sbagliato at Molo Bar for just $10 from now until the end of March. Offer available 3pm - 7pm.
