Pianist and 2020 Freedman Jazz Fellowship nominee Michael Azzopardi has formed a brand-new trio featuring two of Australia's most revered jazz legends; Lloyd Swanton and Hamish Stuart.
Azzopardi has been a regular collaborator with artists and ensembles in Sydney and Australia for many years, including Foundry616 regulars 'Mingus Amongst Us'. But this is the first time he has brought an ensemble of his own to The Foundry.
Michael has performed alongside some of Australia's foremost jazz musicians including Don Burrows, James Greening, Miroslav Bukovsky, Emma Pask, Tim Firth, Brett Hirst to name a few. As well as performing with international jazz legends such as Bennie Maupin and Bob Mintzer.
The trio will be performing all new original compositions, influenced by jazz piano greats like Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans and Chick Corea.
