A multicultural event supported by City of Sydney

The State Library of NSW opens its doors for a vibrant multicultural event, Martenitsa Festival on 6-7 March, which continues at Martin Place on 14 March 2021 with live music, dances and live performances.

With live dance and music, art exhibition, kids' workshops and kids' painting competition we will celebrate an ancient tradition, recognised by UNESCO for Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Romania and Moldova. Celebrate with the multiple communities in Sydney, sharing the same traditions.

GANCHO TASKOV ART EXHIBITION - Dixson Room: 10 - 5PM

Enjoy the beautiful artwork of Mr. Gancho Taskov who is a renowned artist, floral designer and sculptor based in Melbourne. The photographs will be offered for sale and the funds will be donated to COVID19 research. 

 MARTENITSA WORKSHOP - for kids and adults

Design and make your own martenitsa workshop. All materials are supplied, including martenitsa samples. Workshop sessions: every hour on the hour (10am - 4pm) - just show up at the door.

 BEST CHILDREN PAINTING AWARD

The Bulgarian Language school in Sydney in collaboration with NSWFCLS has organised a painting contest on Martenitsa theme. The best paintings from each Community Language school will be displayed in Dixson Room in the State Library of NSW on 6-7 March. All awarded children's paintings from Dixson Room will be displayed at Martin Place during the Martenitsa Festival on 14th of March.

Martenitsa Festival Concert is a COVID controlled event and you are required to have a ticket in order to attend.
