Liveworks festival of experimental art 2021

In 2021 Liveworks comes to you with an extensive digital program, seeking to create surprising, meaningful and transformative encounters between artists and audiences. Far from the formulaic, our digital commissions and programs explore new possibilities for liveness and expand our sense of what live performance can mean in the digital realm.

'While our social and political structures churn and buckle in the chaos of this difficult present moment, artists are -- have always been -- imagining a world that looks different. It's in this spirit that we launch this first round of Liveworks 2021 projects, welcoming audiences from across Sydney, Australia and the world into these brilliant, artist-led digital experiences. Each one invites us to imagine our world anew. And there's more to come! We will reveal the final seven projects of Liveworks 2021 on 22 September. These are the projects that we've planned -- and still hope -- might happen at Carriageworks, in the event of venues opening up again here in Sydney. But we're also realistic about the tough situation we're in right now, and we are planning a digital alternative with each of these artists, in the event that we can't gather in person.'
