Since her retirement Dr Sham Ho continued her law practice and continues to be active in the Community both in the mainstream and particularly in the Chinese Community, organising and participating in educational, social and cultural activities.

To mention a few, Helen was Trustee of the Sydney Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, Patron of Macquarie University Foundation, Vice Chairman of the NSW Parliament Asian Pacific Friendship Group. Dr Sham Ho's many contributions have been acknowledged over the years.

In 2014 she received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Western Sydney for the significant role and contributions to Australia multiculturalism, social justice and services to the communities.
