'Resilience is frequently characterized as the ability of something or someone to return to its original shape after it has been pulled, stretched, pressed, or bent. It is understood as the capability of a strained body to recover its size and shape after deformation caused by compressive stress. Resilience, in sum, revolves around shock absorption.' - Sarah Bracke -
This exhibition at The Women's Library questions how we have adapted to these strange and uncertain COVID times we now find ourselves in. Artists were asked to consider the questions: Can we return our original shape? Or must we go forward into an unknown and uncertain future? How will you go forward? What will it look like for you?
Established and emerging artists have produced work in a range of art forms, including video, experimental photography, painting, sculpture, and drawing, for Herland III. Artwork is available for sale and Renee Toonen has donated her work to be sold as a fundraiser for The Women's Library.
The Women's Library is generously supported by the City of Sydney.
