VibeLab Asia Pacific presents Global Cities After Dark Sydney - a capacity building and resilience-focused program co-designed with local night-time economy sector leaders.

The program includes international keynotes, sector-specific workshops and a 'Celebrate Local' closing event.Held over 5 nights, from Monday 22 March to Thursday 25 March, Global Cities After Dark Sydney signifies the first time Sydney's night-time economy sector has come together since the pandemic to actively plan for the implementation of the NSW Government 24-Hour Economy Strategy.The program focuses on a range of sectors within Sydney's night-time economy.The in-person events are booked out, however you can watch the keynotes from the sector-specific live-streams online for free.

Riyaaz Amlani - CEO and MD of Impresiao Entertainment, (Mumbai, India) presented a keynote focusing on:

  • Innovation in the Indian hospitality sector

  • New ways of doing business and building resilience

  • Key trends in India

  • What Sydney hospitality businesses can do to set themselves up for future success

Transport and Health & Safety workshop: Thursday 25 March

International keynote with Mark Curran, London, London's 24-Hour transport expert.He will present a keynote highlighting:

  • The process London went through getting 24-hour transport on the agenda;

  • Looking to the future through the lens of the NSW 24hr economy, what Sydney can learn from Mark's experience and achievements in developing the business and operational feasibility for weekend 24-hour operation of the London Underground;

  • The role data played in London's planning for 24-hour transport;

  • Health and safety challenges within London's 24hr transport planning and the ways these were addressed;

  • Which other cities with overnight networks that London used as reference points to identify London's nuances in planning for its 24-hour transport;

  • Articulation of best practice examples from other cities that have implemented 24hr transport networks.

Global Cities After Dark concludes Friday 26 March with 'Celebrate Local' - a music and culinary event held at Maton: Australia's Guitar at Powerhouse Museum Sydney.

2021 Global Cities After Dark Sydney is proudly sponsored by the NSW Government, City of Sydney and Powerhouse Museum through the Powerhouse NSW Creative Industries Residency Program.

The sector-specific workshops are created in collaboration with Night Time Industries Association (Hospitality) and MusicNSW (Live Music and Entertainment).
