George Miller is a legend of cinema. From Mad Max to Babe to the recent triumph of Fury Road (with a Happy Feet or two along the way), the film director, producer and screenwriter has a formidable track record and phenomenal breadth.

In Australia, we can sometimes feel constrained by a cultural landscape that discourages risk-taking, where the balance between commercial pressures and creative freedoms squeezes out original thinking.

And for that originality to come from the page - from projects that stem from a writerly impulse and an auteur's eye - is even rarer. One of this country's most revolutionary, most innovative creative figures joins the Sydney Writers' Festival to talk about screenwriting, storytelling and reinventing the world.

This event is open captioned.
