Esmay Pop-up with Ezra 2022

Alanna Sapwell, one of the most celebrated chefs in the country, is returning to Sydney soil with her sell-out pop-up restaurant, Esmay. For one night only (over two sittings) Esmay will join forces with Eastern-suburbs-meets-the-Middle-East Potts Point powerhouse, Ezra, for a multi-course dinner served with wines and beer. Ezra exploded onto Sydney's dining scene in September 2020 and it's been number one on every food lover's bucket list since. The union of Ezra and Esmay came about when Sapwell dined there recently and immediately fell in love with it: both restaurants boast a mustard colour-scape, both share a commitment of produce-driven, seasonal fare. Good Food Month played match-maker - and the holy union was sealed.

Esmay has been touring the country with Good Food Month for the past year - and tickets have sold out to each one of her lunches or dinners within hours. Sapwell was once head chef of Josh Niland's famous hatted Paddington fin-to-tail masterpiece, Saint Peter, but she broke Sydney's heart when she left for Brisbane to open her own restaurant, Arc Dining (and was awarded a hat within the first year).

Ezra is a homage to Tel Aviv's dynamic dining scene by restaurant alchemists Nick and Kirk Mathews Bowden, part of the founding team of Potts Point favourite Bistro Rex. Head chef Ben Sears, formerly of hatted restaurants Moon Park and Paper Bird, has assembled a menu that nods to Ashkenazi, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisines. Punchy flavours and vibrant produce complement the terrace-cum-restaurant that boasts some pretty rare real estate in Sydney: a gorgeous front AND back courtyard.
