Damian Gascoigne is an independent animation filmmaker and educator. In a professional career spanning more than twenty-five years he has created a significant body of short films, animation for live performance, commercials, and installations for gallery spaces. His award-winning films have been nominated in competition at the major animation festivals from Annecy, through Hiroshima and Seoul, to Zagreb. Damian's creative practice spans fine art and independent animation, fusing distinctive hand drawn imagery with digital technology to create a uniquely personal aesthetic.
Research focuses on the survival of hand drawing in the digital era, exploring gesture, imperfection and accident in drawing, and the development of a remix culture for animation practice. Visit his Vimeo page at https://vimeo.com/user941535
