Coucals is a hillside garden of over two acres which is landscaped using local sandstone. Exotic plants from temperate, tropical and sub-tropical climes have been integrated with the native gums and smaller trees. A variety of gardens have been created at different levels to display the huge variety of plants forming garden rooms which are linked by meandering paths. Seating areas and gazebos allow visitors to sit and enjoy the ambience of garden as well as the majestic views of the hills.

Orchids have been integrated into the garden to add colour and impact as well as adorning the courtyard area. In the courtyard they grow under the 5 wisterias that flower at this time with the Softcane dendrobiums.

Planting the right plants in the right situation is what gardening is all about. Seeing what plants grow in your area is why visiting gardens is so enlightening. Looking at how plants are grown and what situation suits their needs best makes gardening easier; a happy plant grows and flowers better

Vendors will be offering plants for sale and light refreshments will be offered at reasonable prices by the Australian Red Cross (Ipswich Branch) who benefit from the gate fee.
