To really construct a history of a building, you need to start from the ground up. Consider the site, locality, architecture and people. City of Sydney historians Lisa Murray and Laila Ellmoos will introduce the key sources for research. Archivist Naomi Crago will answer your research questions.

The workshop will kick off with a presentation outlining the research tools offered by the City of Sydney archives. The City of Sydney's online House & Building Histories Guide will provide the framework, focusing on resources available in Archives and History Resources. The session will be followed with a Q&A panel.

Are you having trouble interpreting a source?

Don't know where to start?

Want to find out more about a particular source?

Have you hit a road block?

Lisa, Laila and Naomi will be there to answer your questions and demystify the process. Ask a question when you register. The panel will address the most popular topics nominated by you.

This workshop is part of the City of Sydney's contribution to History Week. See the full program of events.

History Week is brought to you by the History Council of NSW.

This event will be Auslan interpreted.

Lisa Murray is the City Historian and heads up the history team.
