See out this year’s Melbourne Jazz Festival with a mammoth lineup taking over the Bowl for a sun-drenched, day-long celebration of jazz, funk, gospel and soul - headlined by international heavyweights Fat Freddy’s Drop.
Over a massive two-hour set, this world-renowned eight piece from New Zealand will be bringing their potent mix of jazz virtuosity and diaphragm-wrecking digital sonics.
Other acts include home-grown funk and soul pioneers, The Bamboos, performing songs from their 10th studio album, Hard Up, and favourites from their 21 years together; siren of soul, Emma Donovan teaming up with Melbourne International Jazz Festival artist-in-residence Paul Grabowsky for the premiere of a new gospel-inspired set; and The Cat Empire’s firebrand trumpet-playing vocalist Harry James Angus collaborates with drummer Freyja Hooper with hypnotic rhythms and complete harmonic freedom.
This performance is presented as part of the Melbourne International Jazz Festival.
