Instead of feeling guilty about screen time, parents can find a balance between the passive screen time - a Netflix binge or addictive gaming - and 'active' screen time. ACMI's education team has stepped up to provide free, fun and educational online activities for students of all ages.
Kids can use this time spent indoors time to explore screen culture and build new skills by coding their own videogame and developing a digital version of a well-known playground game using Scratch; tackling the basics of script formatting by writing and editing a film script; moulding a 'cracking contraption' Wallace & Gromit style for a stop-motion animation; while younger kids can explore Dr Seuss's Horton Hears a Who for hands-on, creative activities, including how to make a miniature garden.
For more fun, screen-based activities for kids, visit the ACMI website.
