Join us for a virtual "Night at the observatory"!
Mount Burnett Observatory is kicking of a new monthly series of live streams to bring the wonders of the universe to you. While we are all in lock down, we are missing sharing our love of the night sky, so the MBO outreach team have come together and we have planned an evening of exploring the night sky for you.
In the first episode we will have a guided tour of the king of the planets, Jupiter, an introduction to Earth's place in the solar system, a little history of the observatory, the first of a series of mini documentaries about space, and some insight into how looking up to the sky can keep us grounded in this very uncertain time.
We are hosting the first 100 people in a Zoom chat, with overflow being directed to a livestream on Facebook. The first 100 folks will have the opportunity to ask questions throughout the night, the best of which will be answered at the end of the stream.
Links to view and participate in the evening will be posted here shortly. We are currently fine tuning the software for the expected numbers.
Doors open at 7:15pm on Friday the 4th of September and our first speaker will begin at 7:30. We expect to run for about an hour, though we may go longer if we're having fun answering lots of questions. This event is suitable for all ages.
Tell your friends and join us for a fun night under virtual stars!
